Shop Foreman Job description
The shop manager position is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the fabrication shop at Lumenati to include the construction and quality control of event activation builds, art installations and in-house upgrades ensuring fabrication builds align with client standards.
Responsibilities
Operate under the direction of the Head of Production and creative design team to fabricate builds and activations for clients
Oversee day to day operations of the fabrication shop
Promote a harmonic team environment for all fabrication employees, contractors and vendors
Partner with, track and report progress on all builds with Lumenati Account Manager
Maintain a standard of operation that aligns with the expectations of the Fabrication team values and promotes a healthy working culture and positive collaboration
Daily communications with the Account Managers and Build leads on project progress and flag any problems that may arise
Provide training and support while overseeing fabrication team and contractors on the safe operation of tools and other processes according to legal standards
Responsible for a clean and organized fabrication facility
Fully own the process around ordering bulk materials, tracking usage of inventory per project and reporting on data of usage
Keep fabrication equipment and tools in safe working order, performing routine maintenance and troubleshooting issues on all assets in the greater Lumenati workspace
Plan and build schedules using an internal company calendar that is shared with the Account Manager
Implement systems for best team efficiencies, workflow and safety
Manage and train any shop laborers on the aforementioned responsibilities
Qualifications
Leadership: Proven ability to positively motivate a team, providing clear direction and healthy support to maintain a strong culture and accountability
Communication: Excellent communication skills both written and verbal to communicate with department managers and directors on project progress, shop inventories and team needs
Technical skills: Candidate should possess a strong knowledge of different building techniques applying to a variety of mediums and deliverables; including but not limited to carpentry, metal fabrication, textiles and staging equipment
Safety: Candidates must be safety minded and have experience overseeing the safe working practices of a team on job sites and in workshop atmospheres
Experience: Working within parameters of corporate and non corporate environments with a focus on live events and “one off” custom builds
Proficiency in systems: Must possess strong computer skills with proficiency in google drive, excel, zoom, email, etc. Sketchup, Vectorworks and other build design software abilities a major bonus.
Physical Requirements: Ability to lift heavy objects, work for extended periods of time on your feet and operate in a variety of weather conditions
Heavy Equipment: Have experience using and maintaining scissor lifts, pallet jacks and forklifts
